Secrets to Building Confidence

Confidence. No one is born with it, it’s built. It’s a muscle and it needs to be worked out constantly. If someone seems to have mind-blowing self confidence, it’s because they’ve been working on developing it for a LONG time. And let’s not even talk about how hard it is to maintain. It’s a tough world out there and it beats at your confidence relentlessly.

But, not to worry. I’m here to help you figure it all out.

Here are 5 ways to build your confidence!

Know your purpose

I talk about this all the time. Define your purpose, it’s the Holy Grail. Your purpose is your reason why and your reason for getting out of bed in the morning. Having a solid hold on the things that define you as a person will in turn help you identify your purpose. Once you have a clear purpose, that my friends is when your confidence grows. Remember, your purpose has to be so big, that even if you were questioning your commitment to continue, it would give you the extra push to keep going.

Do what you say

This is a big one. We are really nothing without our word. I mean, think about it. If people kept telling you what they were going to do and never did it, you’d lose faith in those people right? Well, it’s the same when it comes to our own word. Everything you complete no matter how small gives more and more credibility to your word. Soon, it won’t even be a question, you’ll just do it.

Now, if you set out on doing what you say but you fail to keep your word, you can always reset and get it right moving forward. Don’t use that “failed” mission as a reason to beat yourself up. I fail and restart all of the time. I might not always get it right the first time out of the gate. It could be that my purpose connected to commitment wasn’t big enough or exciting enough to hold myself accountable. I may just need to revamp my purpose behind doing what I say, or I may need to not agree to do something that ultimately doesn’t propel me forward.

Therefore, don’t fret if you didn’t complete your goal, you can always start over. That’s the beauty of time. Every minute you become a new person, with a new opportunity to start over and get it done the next time around.

Surround yourself with likeminded people

Surrounding yourself with likeminded people will not only help you accelerate faster, but you’ll see who’s really there to support you. Get connected with a group like 10X Ladies or one similar that actually understands what you are trying to achieve and will push you toward your goals. Stay away from people who always want to slow you down or stop you.

Do things for yourself

Self-care is extremely important for your self-confidence. Make the time to put on nice clothes, do your hair, makeup or nails. You always feel better when you get out of the sweats. Do kind things for yourself and congratulate yourself for the small things. Get that long overdue massage that you feel so guilty receiving. That is a great way to celebrate the wins. Self-care reminds yourself you are important too.
